International Conference on the Period of Co-Existence of Greeks and Turks in Cyprus (1960-1963)

DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSIONS: 25 September 2023

The Cyprus Society of Historical Studies in collaboration with the Department of History and Archaeology, University of Cyprus, and the School of Law, University of Nicosia, invite submissions for an international conference on the Period of Co-Existence of Greeks and Turks in Cyprus (1960-1963) to be held in Nicosia on 1 – 2 December 2023.

The conference will be held in memoriam of Costas Kyrris (1927-2009), late Director of the Cyprus Research Centre.

Subject-Matter of Conference
The conference will address the historical aspects of the Period of Co-Existence of Greeks and Turks in Cyprus (1960-1963), including political, social and cultural history through original submissions. Original contributions with a focus on personalities, specific events, international aspects, or oral history of the Period are also welcome.

Submission Instructions
Interested scholars/researchers should email an abstract no longer than 500 words by September 25, 2023 to: [email protected]. Papers can be presented in either English or Greek. Scholars should identify their submission with the following subject line: “KEIS Conference – Abstract Submission”.

Notification
Scholars whose abstract has been accepted will be notified no later than October 15, 2023.

Costs
There are no fees to participate in this Conference. Participants are, however, responsible for securing their own funding for travel and lodging.

Publication of papers
Selected papers from the conference will be published in a special issue of The Cyprus Review, The Yearbook of the Cyprus Society of Historical Studies and/or a Conference proceedings volume.
