Ms Veronika Romanovich, a Graphic Communication student in the Department of Design & Multimedia was among the 27 European finalists of the Competition “Migrants in Europe”, which was organized by the European Commission.
The competition was open to all students over 18 years of age and registered at an institution of higher education for art/graphic/communication in any EU country plus Croatia.
All artworks in the three categories, Poster, Photos, and Videos, were first evaluated at national level and those shortlisted (10 per country from a total of 777 schools) were put forward to a European jury that selected the 27 finalists and decided on a European winner for each category.
The 27 European finalists were then invited and attended the prize-giving ceremony in Brussels with the expected participation of Cecilia Malmström, European Commissioner for Home Affairs, on 14 October 2013. Veronika Romanovich represented Cyprus as well as the University of Nicosia in this ceremony in Brussels.
