Mission
By signing the Cyprus Diversity Charter, the University of Nicosia commits to promoting the principles and values of respect for diversity and their integration in the workplace. As such, a new body is needed in order to address the day-to-day activities that fall under the Charter. The Centre of Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (CEDI) is a multidisciplinary research and policy centre consisting of scientists, administrative staff, that have research and/or professional expertise in matters of gender equity, diversity, and inclusion.
For too long have vulnerable groups struggled to achieve meaningful representation, to co-exist in a highly unequal environment plagued by toxic masculinity, prejudice, discrimination, and patriarchal remnants of an older era. While inequality still persists to this day, we vow to work to the fullest extent within our power to speed up the process towards achieving full equality, embracing our diverse friends, students, and colleagues, while making UNIC more inclusive and advocating a policy that protects everyone against toxic discrimination and assault.
