One Billion Rising for Justice: Rise, Release, Dance!

The Mall of Cyprus at 17:30 pm
One in three women on the planet will be raped or beaten in her lifetime. That is, one billion women.
The global “One Billion Rising” campaign (https://www.onebillionrising.org/) asks communities to gather safely in public spaces and, through art, dance, marches, song, spoken word and testimonies, demand an end to violence against women and girls.
In collaboration with The Mediterranean Institute of Gender Studies, the Office of the European Parliament in Cyprus, the University of Nicosia, the Cyprus Association of Family Planning, European Public Space, Media Zone, and Music TV, the Cyprus Center for Intercultural Studies supports the Cypriot initiative for “One Billion Rising” to raise awareness, break the silence, and rise against injustice toward women.
This important event was held at the Mall of Cyprus at 17:30pm on 14 February, 2014. Click here to download the flyer.
A related event, by students of the University of Nicosia’s Dance Programme, also took place at Millennium Cafeteria on 13 February, 2014 at 10:30-10:45am and at 16:30-16:45pm.
