UNIC Dance Programme: Audition Guidelines for Video Submissions

The Dance Programme is excited to announce applications for the academic year 2020-2021, welcoming applicants from diverse dance backgrounds

Due to the current situation, and in an abundance of caution, the University of Nicosia Dance Programme will not hold onsite auditions and instead is delighted to welcome video submissions. Applicants from diverse dance backgrounds are welcome!

Application Procedure

  1. Fill out the application form available below
  2. Send a short CV outlining your dance experience
  3. Send a video audition which consists of all or any of the following:

Contemporary or Jazz Class

  1. Floor Exercise
  2. Standing Exercise
  3. Traveling/Jump/Turn combination

Request Information

Ballet Class

This can be created by your teacher or feature exercises from your last grade from any system (RAD, ISTD, ABD, IDTA, etc).

  1. Plié exercise
  2. Tendu/Jette Exercise
  3. Rond de Jambe/Adage Exercise

Solo

  1. Present a 2-minute solo in any dance style of your choice. This may feature your choreography or someone else’s. Please clearly indicate whose choreography it is.

Guidelines for Video Audition

  • Make sure that your full body is featured in the video.
  • Please wear appropriate attire and make sure your hair is securely tied away from your face.
    • Contemporary/Jazz/Modern: fitted clothes
    • Ballet: leotard, tights, ballet shoes or socks
  • In order to ensure your safety, please make sure you have enough space to execute the exercises and perform on a safe floor not to slip.
  • Please make sure that you label your video clearly with your name.

Please send your CV and videos using any file sharing systems, such as One Drive or WeTransfer to Dr. Dara Milovanovic at [email protected]. Alternatively, you can upload to YouTube or Vimeo with private or secure link and send us the password for access.

The deadline for submission of the applications is 17 July 2020.
