Dr Andreas Costa
Dr Costa Andreas is a part time lecturer of Sport Biomechanics and Kinesiology of Sports. He studied at the Semmelweis University (MSc of Education in Physical Education-2002, PhD Educational and Sport Sciences-2009). His doctoral degree studies were in the field of skeletal muscle repair and adaptations as a result of exercise-induced muscle damage. His PhD examined the impact of repeated bouts of eccentric exercise on the biomechanical, morphological and molecular (myogenic gene expressions) characteristics of skeletal muscle.
After his return to Cyprus, in 2009, he worked at Intercollege (2009-2010) and then at the University of Nicosia (2014-present) as a part-time lecturer of Biomechanics and Kinesiology of Sports. At the same time he works at C.A.Papaellinas Pharmaceuticals and Cosmetics (2010-present) as senior training manager.
His future plans are to further examine the impact of exercise on skeletal muscle physiology to better understand skeletal muscle adaptability and the effect of different variables (e.g rest intervals-between repeated bouts, nutrition and supplements, exercise timing) in order to establish potential means for better repair and adaptation.
