Cyprus and the Commonwealth (1961-2021) | Online International Scientific Conference marking the 60th Anniversary of Cyprus’ Accession to the Commonwealth
The School of Law of the University of Nicosia and the Institute of Commonwealth Studies of the University of London with the support of the Royal Commonwealth Society Cyprus Branch co-organise an international scientific conference on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of Cyprus’ accession to the Commonwealth. The conference will take place online between 20-21 May 2021 (Thursday-Friday) and will host a vast range of scholarly contributions promoting a better understanding of the historical, political, legal, and cultural aspects of Cyprus’ participation in the Commonwealth of Nations.
The conference is also a cornerstone marking the recent collaboration initiated between the University of Nicosia and the Institute of Commonwealth Studies of the University of London. The opening ceremony will be addressed by Patricia Scotland, Secretary-General of the Commonwealth and Ben Rawlings, Deputy High Commissioner of the United Kingdom in Cyprus.
Prof. Em. Robert Holland will give the keynote address entitled ‘The Anglo-Cypriot Relationship: Some Reflections’.
