The forthcoming edition of the bi-annual conference of the ECREA Film Studies Section will take place in Cyprus and will be hosted by the Department of Design and Multimedia of the University of Nicosia on 14th and 15th September 2023.

Taking its cue from the political and cultural dimensions of its host’s geographical location, the conference will address and seek to reframe the scope of ‘postcolonial cinema’ in the current historical moment. The conference aims to contribute to ongoing work that places diverse geographies, histories and identities in dialogical relation and critiques the ways of seeing, thinking and representing that have grown out of colonisation and/or neo-colonial globalisation.
