Webinar 9 | Meeting Students’ Multiple Needs in Comprehensive, Integrated, Three-Tiered (Ci3T) Models of Prevention: The Importance of Systematic Screening
In this session, we introduce how to use a Ci3T structure meet students’ multiple needs in an integrated tiered systems with academic, behavior (positive behavioral interventions and supports, PBIS), and social and emotional well-being using validated resources. We illustrate how to use systematic screening data to: (a) inform Tier 1 efforts, (b) empower teachers with low-intensity supports, and (c) connect students to Tier 2 and Tier 3 interventions.

Kathleen Lynne Lane is a Roy A. Roberts Distinguished Professor in the Department of Special Education at the University of Kansas and Associate Vice Chancellor for Research. Dr. Lane’s research interests focus on designing, implementing, and evaluating comprehensive, integrated, three-tiered (Ci3T) models of prevention to (a) prevent the development of learning and behavior challenges and (b) respond to existing instances, with an emphasis on systematic screening. She is currently past President of the Council for Exceptional Children Division for Research (CEC-DR). She is the co-editor of Remedial and Special Education. Dr. Lane has co-authored 11 books and published 211 refereed journal articles and 42 book chapters. This year, the Council for Exceptional Children honored Dr. Lane for her lifetime of achievement improving outcomes for students with and at risk for emotional and behavioral disorders and the educators who serve them (CEC 2022 Lifetime Achievement Award).
