Dr Maria Georgiou
Dr Maria Georgiou is a lecturer of psychology and is adjunct faculty at the University of Nicosia. She holds a BA degree in Psychology from Excelsior College (New York State University), an MA degree in psychology from the University of Indianapolis (USA) and a PhD in Developmental psychology from the University of Durham (UK). In February 2017 she completed the Postgraduate Diploma in Psychology from the University of Derby (UK). Additional studies include a four year training programme in counseling skills and psychotherapy from The Czech Institute for the Person-Centered Approach. She currently attends a training programme in Systemic Psychotherapy and she is a member of the British Psychological Society, the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy, and the European Association of Psychotherapy. She holds the European Certificate of Psychotherapy (ECP) and is hired by St George Medical School, University of Nicosia, to provide her counseling services to medical students.
