Dr Dona Hileti is a Lecturer in Nutrition and Dietetics at the University of Nicosia and a Clinical Dietitian. Besides her academic and teaching work, Dr Hileti’s clinical work involves the nutritional assessment and management of adults and children with a variety of health conditions such as Diabetes, obesity and the metabolic syndrome.
Dr Hileti has academic, teaching and clinical experience both in UK and in Cyprus. She worked as a Senior Dietitian at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Sick Children in London and also participated in research projects and audits in collaboration with the Institute of Child Health. During her work at Wolfson Centre (Institute of Child Health, London, UK) she was part of a multidisciplinary group on a project looking at the impact of gastrostomy on the nutritional, psychological and medical status of children with Cerebral Palsy. She was responsible for assessing the growth velocity and nutritional intake of these children.
Dr Hileti authored a chapter in the Textbook of Clinical Paediatric Dietetics and an article for the Encyclopedia of Food Sciences and Nutrition. She also worked with the Cyprus Paediatric Society to develop information on Childhood nutrition for parents which forms part of the child’s personal health records. Furthermore, Dr Hileti has been an invited speaker on the topic of nutrition in the early years of life, in a number of conferences both locally and abroad.
