Water Conservation
Cyprus suffers from the highest water stress level in Europe, particularly in years of excessive drought.
Due to the dry climate of Cyprus, water conservation plays an important role in sustainability at the University of Nicosia. Faculty and Administration at the University are collaborating as part of the University’s Environmental Committee to address this critical issue for our country and the University’s water conservation efforts are aimed at reducing the organization’s annual water use. Our comprehensive approach to water conservation includes high-efficiency fixtures such as ultra-low flow urinals, drought tolerant landscaping, watering the gardens in the early morning and evening when evaporation is limited, drip irrigation and regular leakage checks and repairs.
