Dear Faculty, Students, and Members of the University of Nicosia (UNIC) Community,
With great enthusiasm, I introduce myself as the new Dean of the School of Sciences and Engineering. I am honoured to take up this post at UNIC, which is known for its dedication to academic excellence and innovation in science and engineering. At a time when technology is rapidly transforming every aspect of our lives, we must position ourselves as leaders in emerging technologies with, first and foremost, Artificial Intelligence (AI), which we aim to integrate into our educational and research endeavours, ensuring that we maintain our relevance to industry and society.
Our School’s Organisational Structure
Our School encompasses two dynamic departments: Computer Science and Engineering. Each department is committed to providing cutting-edge programmes that cater to the needs of today’s students and the future workforce.
1. Department of Computer Science
- 1.1. The Computer Science Department offers diverse programmes, including Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctoral degrees in Computer Science and a Bachelor’s and Master’s in Data Science.
- 1.2. Our curriculum is designed to incorporate AI principles at every level, equipping students with the critical skills necessary to thrive in an AI-driven world. We aim to cultivate technically proficient graduates and visionary thinkers capable of leveraging technology for societal benefit.
2. Department of Engineering
- 2.1. The Department of Engineering offers comprehensive programmes across key disciplines such as Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Civil & Environmental Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Oil & Gas Engineering, and Oil, Gas and Energy Engineering. Our offerings include Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctoral degrees, preparing students for the complexities and challenges of modern engineering fields.
- 2.2. By integrating AI into our engineering programmes, we aim to enhance the problem-solving capabilities of our students, enabling them to apply innovative solutions to pressing industry challenges, from sustainable energy to infrastructure development.
Vision and Commitment to Artificial Intelligence
AI represents a monumental shift in how we approach both education and research. Our vision is to embed AI into the core of our teaching and investigation processes, creating an environment where students and faculty collaboratively explore AI’s possibilities.
