Career Success Centre

The UNIC Career Success Centre (CSC) supports students and alumni in their continuous career exploration journey with vital insights and advice, employability seminars and trainings, company open days, and many more tools and services. The CSC actively supports and equips students with the tools they need to land an internship or job placement.

From their first year at UNIC, students are encouraged to take advantage of the CSC services and opportunities and pursue as many internships during their studies as possible. In this way, they can enhance and develop both their hard and soft skills, with soft skills being the decisive factor in terms of what employers are looking for. Through work experience, students can shape and develop their marketable and career skills and ready themselves for a successful career after study in the competitive job market.

The CSC works to develop mutually beneficial relationships with its partners and to connect students, faculty and the industry. Through its highly developed network, the CSC gives students the opportunity to gain real-life knowledge and experience.

What our Students say

The Career Success Centre (CSC) at the University of Nicosia has been instrumental in shaping my career path. I first interacted with the CSC during the Career Success Centre Trainings course, which helped me build an amazing CV that was highly praised during the job fairs.

Additionally, the CSC provided me with personalized career coaching, helping me refine my resume and improve my interview skills. Their guidance was invaluable, as it gave me the confidence and skills necessary to navigate the competitive job market successfully.

A special mention goes to Ms. Ioanna Leontiou, who guided me through the whole process. Her dedication and support were crucial in helping me find the right internship. She went above and beyond, assisting me every step of the way and ensuring I was well-prepared for each opportunity.

Overall, the CSC has been a cornerstone in my career journey, offering continuous support and resources that have enabled me to achieve my professional goals. I am incredibly grateful for their assistance and highly recommend their services to all students.

Shayan Naghashpour Shoushtari, BSc in Computer Engineering, Class of 2026

The Career Success Centre (CSC) at the University of Nicosia played a pivotal role in launching my career. Through the CSC, I was able to acquire an internship at a prestigious multinational company in the field of information technology (IT), Kyndryl. This opportunity allowed me to observe the operations of a large company and gain hands-on experience.

The support from CSC gave me a strong sense of self-belief, which was crucial as I embarked on my professional journey post-graduation. Additionally, the networking opportunities provided by the CSC were instrumental in connecting me with industry professionals. The regular updates on job openings by the CSC were also very helpful in keeping me informed about available opportunities.

After graduating, I was hired as a Data Scientist at RetailZoom in Nicosia, Cyprus, where I worked for a year. Building on this foundation, I decided to pursue an MSc in Business Administration and Data Science at Copenhagen Business School in Denmark. While balancing the demands of being a full-time student, I also work part-time as a Power Curve Warranty Analyst at Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy.

Overall, the CSC was essential in developing both the soft and hard skills that have been invaluable throughout my career journey. I am truly grateful for the guidance and support I received from them.

Andreas Neocleous, BSc in Data Science, Class of 2023

The UNIC Career Success Centre (CSC) is undoubtedly one of the most invaluable and helpful Departments. Throughout my academic studies, the Department organised numerous training sessions that helped me enhance professional skills related to key aspects of career development, including CV drafting, job interview, LinkedIn profile optimisation as well as the emerging era of remote work.

Job fairs held on campus also offered me and my fellow students an excellent opportunity to network with industry professionals representing top sector-specific corporations.

With the CSC’s support, I secured two consecutive internship opportunities at EY Cyprus and received an employment offer from Grant Thornton Cyprus under the ACA apprenticeship. Shortly thereafter, I transitioned to Grant Thornton UK to further my qualification within a multinational company. I am grateful for the CSC’s commitment and inclusive approach. Whether you are a local or international student or graduate, the center’s professional and supportive team is always there to help you enhance your skills and advance your career.

Nesa Bayrampour , Business Administration (BBA), Class of 2023

My name is Lucas Nicolaou, and I study Business Administration: Finance and Economics at the University of Nicosia. This summer, I am interning at Joannides + Co, an accounting company. This opportunity has been incredibly rewarding, and I owe a great deal of gratitude to Ioanna Leontiou, who is responsible for the Internships at our university. Ioanna played a crucial role in helping me select the right company and secure the position, making the process smooth and stress-free.

From the very first day, I was engaged in meaningful and progressively complex tasks. The theoretical knowledge I gained at the University of Nicosia came to life in a practical setting. My colleagues were supportive and patient, always ready to assist me.

Through this internship, I acquired valuable skills such as recording transactions (bookkeeping) and performing reconciliations. This hands-on experience has been invaluable and I highly recommend this internship to anyone seeking real-world experience in their field of study.

Lucas Nicolaou, Business Administration: Finance and Economics (BBA), Class of 2024

I remember having a side chat with Melina Andreou and Maria Siopacha. I said “I feel so lucky to be working as a student assistant with the University”; And they said, “It is not luck, but your hard work, dedication and skills”.

The Career Success Centre (CSC) afforded me this opportunity, and my experience in this capacity has not only sharpened my work ethic and skills but also afforded me a means to pay my tuition fee. For these, I am deeply grateful.

The CSC, especially its very warm, kind, and amazing team has a beautiful way of making one believe in one’s self and abilities. They even go further to create avenues that enable one to thrive and excel in one’s career as a student or graduate.

I have been privileged to have attended several empowering workshops and events, organized by the CSC. Such as a one-on-one chat session with a CSC Staff where I shared my career aspirations and received relevant advice, the CV workshop, Career fairs with top companies in attendance, Company visits, etc.

The CSC social media pages introduced me to opportunities that ordinarily I may not have had access to as an international student. For example, under the auspices of Femme Forward-Empowering Women in Tech (https://femmeforward.eu/) I have been able to gain specific industry skills and knowledge in Cloud technology (AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner). I was also a participant in their Future Startup Founders Programme–organized by Cyprus Computer Society.

The Highered platform has also exposed me to many opportunities that could serve me as a recent graduate. I am so thrilled for the future.

Amaoge Nnogo, MBA Entrepreneurship and Digital Transformation, Class of 2026, MSc in Blockchain and Digital Currency, Class of 2024

As a Computer Science student at the University of Nicosia, I’ve greatly benefited from the Career Success Center’s (CSC) support. Through their guidance, I secured two valuable on-campus positions in the IT Department: Lab Assistant and Moodle Administrator. These roles allowed me to apply my technical skills, manage systems, and provide user support, bridging the gap between academics and real-world applications.

The CSC team, led by Dr. Maria Siopacha and including Ms. Melina Andreou and Ms. Ioanna Leontiou, has been instrumental in matching students with relevant opportunities. Their dedication has helped me develop a diverse skill set and build confidence in my abilities.

I’m grateful for the CSC’s commitment to student success and highly recommend that fellow students engage with their services. The practical experiences they facilitate are invaluable in setting us apart in the competitive field of computer science.

Mohammad Atout, BSc in Computer Science, Class of 2026

My name is Angelina Orphanides, and I am a third-year Business student. My experience with the Career Services Center (CSC) has been incredibly beneficial to my career development. Through the CSC, I secured a valuable part-time job at the university library, which not only provided financial support but also enhanced my organizational and time-management skills.

One of the standout services I benefited from was the assistance provided during my internship placement. Miss Ioanna Leontiou, in particular, was incredibly supportive and encouraging throughout the entire process. Her guidance was instrumental in securing and successfully completing my internship. She was always available to offer advice and ensure I made the most out of this critical experience.

Additionally, the CSC provided me with personalized career coaching and recommended specific job opportunities that aligned with my career goals. This tailored support has been crucial in helping me navigate the job market and build a solid foundation for my future career.

Overall CSC has played a significant role in my professional development, offering me resources, support, and opportunities that have greatly enhanced my academic and career journey.
