On the 3rd of December, the conference ‘European Account Preservation Order: Practical Difficulties and Prospects for Reform’ took place at the University of Luxembourg, organised by Prof. Gilles Cuniberti.

The conference was an opportunity to present the book ‘European Account Preservation Order – A Multi-jurisdictional Guide’, edited by our co-director, Dr. Nicolas Kyriakides, Heikki A. Huhtamäki (Huhtamäki Brothers Attorneys Ltd) and Dr. Nicholas Mouttotos (University of Bremen).

The conference included two panels of professionals, with the first panel, who have each had first-hand experience with the EAPO Regulation, sharing their views on the instrument. This panel was composed of Dr. Laurent Heisten, Ms. Alexandra Thepaut, and Mr. Lionel Decotte, and was moderated by Prof. Alina Ontanu (University of Tilburg).

The second panel discussed the future of the EAPO Regulation and how to make a more attractive instrument among creditors willing to recover cross-border claims. The panelists were Prof. Gilles Cuniberti, Dr. Nicolas Kyriakides, Carlos Santalό Goris and the moderator was Dr. Nicholas Mouttotos.

The conference also benefitted from the audience sharing their experience and engaging in a general discussion with the panelists.

Overall, this conference was an enriching experience that provided an up-to-date overview of the EAPO Regulation.
