As part of the University of Nicosia’s commitment to education and inspiration, we are inviting you to the workshop “Becoming a Music Student for a Day”. Join us on Wednesday, 10 July 2024, from 10:00 to 13:30 at the Research & Technology Building for an enriching experience. 

Participants will engage in informative presentations and interactive workshops covering music theory, performance, education, and musical creativity. You will also have the opportunity to participate in live music-making sessions, offering a glimpse into the dynamic aspects of the Music (BMus, 4 years) programme. Additionally, you will have the chance to converse with professors about the curriculum and career opportunities in music studies, aiding you in planning your educational and professional journey.  

This workshop coincides with our Jazz Summer Workshop, offering additional excitement and learning opportunities. 

Please bring your musical instruments, if possible, to fully benefit from the interactive workshops.

  • 10:00-10:20: Presentation of the Music Programme 
  • 10:20-11:00: Rethinking the Music Score by Dr. Natassa Economidou-Stavrou, Professor of Music Education 
  • 11:00-11:40: Score Analysis through Music Performance by Dr. Vasilis Kallis, Professor of Music Theory 
  • 11:40-12:00: Break – Snacks
  • 12:00-13:30: Collaborative Music Making – Jamming with the Jazz Summer Workshop Participants by Charis Ioannou, Assistant Professor in Jazz, and Alice Ayvazian, Adjunct Faculty
