The Department of Languages and Literature brings the 4th Literary Festival of Cyprus to the UNIC campus. On November 29, you will have the chance to meet two of Europe’s best poets, Jens Fink-Jensen (Denmark) and Jessica Traynor (Ireland), as well as leading Cypriot Writer, Erato Iannou.

About Jens Fink-Jensen
Jens Fink-Jensen is a Danish poet, writer, photographer and composer, born in 1956.
He published his first collection of poems, titled Verden i et øje (The World in an Eye), in 1981.
He is the author of poetry, short stories, children’s books, a photo travel book, and has also curated several exhibitions of his own photographs. He has performed at various venues including music and literature festivals, high schools and libraries with multimedia performances combining poetry, music and photos.
His collection of poems Nær afstanden (Near the Distance) (1988) was published in Arabic in 1999. In 2012 and 2016, two volumes of his poetry were published in Polish. Some of his poems have been published in English, Swedish, Spanish and Persian. His travel book The West Coast of Europe – a photographic journey from Skagen to Gibraltar was published in English in 2008.
About Jessica Traynor
Jessica Traynor’s debut poetry collection, Liffey Swim (Dedalus Press, 2014), was named one of the best poetry debuts of the past five years on Bustle.com. She’s currently under commission to write an opera with composer Elaine Agnew for Galway 2020 European Capital of Culture.
A thirty-minute choral song cycle, An Island Sings, was commissioned by Poetry Ireland to be performed in the National Concert Hall in March 2019. Prizes include the Ireland Chair of Poetry Bursary, the Hennessy New Irish Writer of the Year Award and the Listowel Poetry Prize.
Her second collection, The Quick, was published in 2018.
She is a Creative Fellow of University College Dublin.
About Erato Ioannou
Erato Ioannou studied English Language and Literature at the University of Cyprus and has an MFA in Creative Writing from UNC Wilmington. She is the associate editor of In Focus literary journal. Her writing has been published in anthologies and journals in Cyprus, Greece, Romania, and the UK and she is the author of Cats Have it All, a collection of short stories. Most recently, her short story “Deserted” has been shortlisted for the Commonwealth Short Story Prize, 2019.
