Science communicators from across the island will compete for a place in the Famelab Final where the Cyprus National FameLab title will be awarded!
The prestigious competition, created by Cheltenham Festivals, co-produced by the British Council and supported by the Cyprus Research Promotion Foundation, NGO Scico Cyprus, the University of Nicosia, SciNews.eu, and Cyprus Science and Research Center (CSRC) aims to discover up-and-coming scientists who inspire people to see the world from a new perspective.
Each contestant will deliver a three-minute presentation on their chosen topic. Every presentation will be judged according to the golden rule of the 3 Cs: content, clarity and charisma.
Finalists from across Cyprus will compete to be named as the most interesting, accessible and charismatic science communicator by a panel of expert judges. The final will take place at CYBC on the 15th of May 2018 and will be broadcasted on Cyprus national television. The all-around winner will be representing Cyprus to the International Competition that will take place during the Cheltenham Science Festival in June 2018 in the UK.
Since its birth at the Festival in 2005, FameLab has grown into the world’s leading science communication competition. A partnership with the British Council since 2007 has seen the competition go global with more than 9000 young scientists and engineers participating to date. In Cyprus, the Famelab competition first arrived in 2011 and this year Famelab Cyprus celebrates its 8th consequent year of participation!
