Workshop on Leaders’ Ethics and Responsibilisation: Advancing Responsible Management Learning and Education
The School of Business of the University of Nicosia (UNIC) organises a workshop on “Leadership, Ethics and Responsibilisation”.
The workshop will be part of the courses “Leadership and Innovation” (MBAN-744), and “Integrity in Organisations” (MBAN-702), taught by Prof. Elena Antonacopoulou and Dr. Leonidas Efthymiou respectively.
Responsible Management Learning and Education reflects one of the grand challenges for Business Schools, which continue to be criticized for developing managers who neglect the well-being of employees, communities and the environment. Within this framework, the scope of the workshop is to involve MBA students in, and enable them to formulate the process of Advancing Responsible Management Learning and Education, as part of the Business School’s mission, which is to educate “effective leaders who will successfully manage and guide organisations, impacting societies in a sustainable manner, driven by, and contributing to, accelerating technological change”. In line with the School’s mission, the aim of the study is to examine the current pedagogical practice in leadership development, ethics and moral education in business schools towards extending competency frameworks that promote responsibility, ethics and sustainability.
The workshop will be conducted on Tuesday, 27 June from 18:00 to 22:00, at the Turquoise Amphitheatre, in the Millennium Building. The research event will include presentations by Prof. Antonacopoulou and Dr. Efthymiou, and collection of findings through Participant Observation, Interviews and Focus Groups. For this purpose, relevant Research Ethics Approval has been attained by the University’s Research Ethics Committee (UREC).
