The UNIC Medical Centre has recently expanded its services to the Kokkinochoria region with the establishment of the Centre for Rural Medicine in Ormideia village. This Centre plays a vital role in providing comprehensive primary care services to a community encompassing 13 villages and towns, home to over 40,000 residents.
Staffed by two personal doctors and several specialty consultants, the Centre not only delivers multidisciplinary medical services and expertise, essential for addressing the diverse healthcare needs of a rural population, but it also serves as a practical training ground for students of the UNIC Medical School, specifically in the area of primary care. The doctors at the Centre hold dual roles, providing healthcare services and fulfilling academic responsibilities at the Medical School.
In addition to healthcare services, the Centre for Rural Medicine is committed to community engagement and education. It regularly organizes monthly seminars on various health issues, which are open to the public, thereby extending its reach beyond clinical care to health education and awareness in the region.
