Professor Antonis Manitakis joins the University of Nicosia’s School of Law
The School of Law of the University of Nicosia proudly announces that the distinguished Professor of Constitutional Law, Professor Emeritus at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, and former Minister of the Hellenic Republic, Antonis Manitakis, has recently joined its Faculty. Professor and Dean Emeritus Antonis Manitakis has assumed the duties of the President of the Scientific Committee of the School of Law of the University of Nicosia. This development ties in with the School’s broader strategy to enhance both its academic activities and the outreach of its social responsibility imprint.
Prof. Manitakis was appointed Professor at the Chair of Constitutional Law of the School of Law of the Aristotle University in 1982, a position that he held until his retirement. He also served as Dean (1989-1991) and Director of the Programme of Postgraduate Studies (2004-2011) of AUTH’s School of Law. Prof. Manitakis previously worked as a Visiting Researcher in several renowned universities (Montpelier, Paris VII, Nantes, and Princeton), while he is the recipient of the “Xanthopoulou – Pnevmatikou” Award of Excellence for University Teaching (2007), bestowed by His Excellency, the President of the Hellenic Republic. Additionally, Prof. Manitakis served as Minister of the Interior in the 2012 caretaker government of the Hellenic Republic (until the elections of 17 June 2012), and as Minister of Administrative Reform and e-Governance between June 2012 and June 2013.
