Department of Music and Dance

The Department of Music & Dance is an affable, vibrant, student-oriented entity deeply committed to excellence in education, performance, artistic, creative and research activity, and to the cultural enrichment of the larger community. The Department offers a well-balanced education in music or dance practice, performance, and theory. Through a wide range of studio, theoretical, and joint courses, students are given the opportunity to develop core technical skills, creative experience, theoretical knowledge, and critical thinking. Students are encouraged to pursue an individualised focus area that can be applied to a future career in the performing arts, including performance, choreography and composition, education and pedagogy, and scholarship. The Department strives to meet the educational needs of a diverse student body, and supports the work of its faculty and staff, and the achievements of its graduates.
