CYSCOLA

Cyprus Standard for the Citation of Legal Authorities

What is CYSCOLA?

CYSCOLA (Cyprus Standard for the Citation of Legal Authorities) is the first Cypriot standard for referencing legal sources, used in legal articles, studies, books, and court decisions. We believe that CYSCOLA will strengthen efforts to evolve Cypriot legal tradition and establish a culture of high-level legal research.

Inspiration

Drawing guidance from the British system of legal source referencing OSCOLA, the American Bluebook, the Canadian McGill Guide, the Australian Australian Guide to Legal Citation, the Indian Standard Indian Legal Citation (SILC), and OSCOLA Ireland, and taking into account Cypriot customary practice, we attempted to create CYSCOLA. We have engaged with all Cypriot law schools, the Supreme Court, and the Cyprus Bar Association and have incorporated suggestions received. CYSCOLA will be updated and upgraded regularly.
