First Official Visit at the IPCNS
On the 13th and 14th of January 2020, the IPCNS received its first official visit from a foreign institution.
We were delighted to have with us on a two day official visit, Sir Jon Murphey, a former Chief Constable of Liverpool Police and currently a Professor at Liverpool Centre for Advanced Policing Studies (LCAPS) of Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU) and Dr Daniel Silverstone, Director of the School of Justice Studies under which is the (LCAPS), and a Reader in Policing Studies.
The purpose of their visit was to exchange ideas, knowledge, and expertise and examine ways of collaboration between our institutions. The outcome of this visit has been the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between UNIC and LJMU and the launching of a promising partnership between the IPCNS of UNIC and the LCAPS of LJMU.
Sir Jon Murphey’s long service in the police led to remarkable achievements. As a recognition of his contribution to public safety and security among other distinctions, in 2014 he received a Knighthood in the Queen’s Birthday Honours. He is a Deputy Lord Lieutenant for the County of Merseyside.
Dr Daniel Silverstone has extensive teaching and research experience with a number of academic institutions and law enforcement agencies. He received his Bachelor’s and PhD degrees from the London School of Economics.
