Welcome Note by the Executive Director

Dear colleagues,

It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to the Institute of Public Security (IPS) of the University of Nicosia, (UNIC) an interdisciplinary Institute founded in 2019.

IPS mission is to undertake training activities on public security, policing, and criminal justice in collaboration with partners in law enforcement, criminal justice, and other academic and professional centres nationally, in the EU and internationally.

We at IPS, bring together knowledge, expertise, skills, and approaches from diverse disciplines such as security, policing and investigation, forensic psychology, criminology, criminal justice, artificial intelligence, blockchain and virtual currencies and digital forensics and cybercrime for the purpose of supporting law enforcement agencies, security services and governments in their quest to address the ever-changing security and community safety challenges nationally and internationally.

To achieve its targets, IPS draws capabilities and expertise from across the UNIC’s Schools and Departments as well as the members of its Academic Board. Furthermore, it draws invaluable knowledge, expertise, guidance, and support from the honourable members of its Advisory Board.
