UNIC’s Ioannis Katakis is featured among the 45 leading Greek scientists under 45

He was included on the prestigious “Ioannidis’ List” for the impact of his research

Dr Ioannis Katakis is featured on the list of 45 leading Greek scientists under the age of 45, developed and published by Professor John Ioannidis of Stanford University.

The list of distinguished Greek scientists was compiled following extensive investigation into Greece’s “brain drain”. The list is primarily based on the number of citations a scientist’s published work receives, which is a measure of evaluating scientific work. The study highlights young scientists under the age of 45 whose research significantly impacts their respective fields.

Out of the 45 scientists on the prestigious list, 40 are working and excelling abroad. One of them is the 37-year-old Ioannis Katakis.

This is a major distinction for the Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Science at UNIC, underscoring the importance and impact of his work to date. Dr Katakis remarks: “It is a great honour for me to be included on the list of leading Greek scientists from distinguished universities. It is important for a researcher to see that his research findings are useful to the scientific community”.
