AILC FALL 2024 NEWSLETTER

AILC FALL 2024 NEWSLETTER

Welcome to the Fall 2024 Newsletter!

This newsletter marks an exciting new chapter for our centre. The Technology Enhanced Learning Centre (TELC) has officially been rebranded as the AI Learning Centre (AILC). This change reflects our renewed focus on the opportunities and challenges that AI brings to teaching, learning, and research at the University of Nicosia.

Throughout Fall 2024, AILC has offered a wide variety of training events on PowerFlow and Accelerate, aimed at equipping our faculty and staff with the tools they need to enhance their work through AI. We, in collaboration with the UNIC Career Success Centre, also introduced new presentations for students on the ethical use of AI in education, emphasizing the importance of responsible engagement with these powerful technologies. As we look ahead, we are excited to announce (with the Student Success Centre) that regular AI tools’ training sessions for students are scheduled throughout 2025, ensuring that our academic community remains at the cutting edge of AI literacy.

In addition to these initiatives, AILC has been involved in a range of impactful projects. We are, for instance, actively contributing to MBA syllabus enhancements, improving and translating study guides into Greek, and undertaking benchmarking work using large language models (LLMs). These example initiatives highlight our commitment to supporting educational excellence and innovation across the University.

We hope you find this newsletter informative and inspiring. Stay tuned for more exciting developments from AILC as we continue to navigate and shape the evolving AI landscape in higher education!
