This hands-on Newsletter is divided into the three thematic areas that also equate to the core activities of the UNIC Technology Enhanced Learning Centre (TELC). These areas are: (1) Learning Technology Innovation; (2) E-Learning Content Development; (3) Training And Disseminating Best Practice.
With regard to point one (Learning Technology Innovation), TELC is at the forefront of researching, piloting, and implementing important learning technology improvements at UNIC. Pertaining to point two (E-Learning Content Development), TELC engages with all areas of the University as appropriate to specify and produce innovative online educational materials. Finally, appertaining to point three (Training and Showcasing Success at UNIC), TELC disseminates through University-wide activities, effective practice related to the use of learning technologies.
TELC also aims to participate in building ‘communities’ of best practice in technology enhanced learning across the University.

Padlet is a cloud-based software-as-a-service, hosting a real-time collaborative web platform in which users can upload, organise, and share content to virtual bulletin boards called “padlets”.
This great new tool that we’re piloting was created with online education in mind, from the very beginning.

We have created an interactive presentation for the Digital Currency’s BLOC-515 and Professor Themistocleous, which includes a dynamic dashboard, progress tracking, accessibility etc.

Nina Steliou – The HR Department’s Collaboration With The Technology Enhanced Learning Centre (TELC)
During the Summer of 2021, the HR Department of UNIC collaborated with the Technology Enhanced Learning Centre to polish their videos in Camtasia and create interactive content in Storyline 360!
“In 2020/2021, we attended several TELC-run training sessions & began placing several new digital tools and resources into our online classes. By Spring 2021, we were particularly interested in exploring students’ experiences…”
“I have been using wikis for many years. A wiki is a tool which can enhance collaboration among students. A wiki has an added value since it gives your students the chance to interact with peers and to work together towards a common goal.”
“During the pandemic, virtual labs gained popularity, mostly as a replacement for the physical labs (“wet” labs The Human Biology Programme adopted Labster’s virtual labs, mostly because they require zero training to use, but also…”
“Breakout sessions may allow for increased engagement and collective learning and they additionally create an opportunity for the creation of interactions between groups of students at varied locations.”
Since the start of the pandemic TELC has so far completed over 140 hours of training with over 425 participants signing up!
