Having originally studied psychology and business administration, I have always had a strong interest in societal relevant topics like (in)equality, financial literacy, macroeconomics, and psychological well-being. During and after my studies, I was able to gain insights into a globally operating bank from a HR perspective, quickly discovering the inefficiencies and hurdles that the traditional banking industry was facing. After switching to the healthcare industry and working there during the global pandemic, it lay bare a lot of inefficient structures fueled by societal and political inequalities.

When I first heard about Bitcoin, I immediately sensed that there was something to it. Intrigued, I started reading about it, and the more I learned, the more my passion grew. I dove into this new world, and devoured every resource I could find, captivated by the transformative potential of this emerging technology. I listened to countless hours of podcasts, watched videos, read articles and newsletters, and tried to keep myself up to speed in this fast-paced space. I even had the honor of attending Andreas Antonopoulos’ live presentation “Thoughts on the Future of Programmable Money” in 2019. This talk solidified my understanding of the many opportunities for society that are being created by building a new monetary system.

At the beginning of 2022, I took the leap and pursued the Master’s degree in Blockchain and Digital Currency at the University of Nicosia. It was hands-down the best decision I could have made. It equipped me with exactly the knowledge and tools I was looking for, covering a broad range of topics, from the foundational aspects of blockchain technology to the complexities of digital currencies. The guidance and expertise of the faculty, coupled with the collaborative spirit among my fellow students, fostered an intellectually stimulating environment that encouraged us to excel. I was able to meet extraordinary individuals from around the world, all driven by their passion and intrinsic motivation for this ground-breaking technology. Not having a technological background, I was eager to make up for it by fully dedicating myself to the course.

The hard work paid off, and at our graduation ceremony in July 2023, as best master’s degree graduate from the School of Business, I had the honor of delivering a speech on behalf of my fellow students. I seized this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to talk about the significance of Bitcoin and blockchain technology.

Today, it is my genuine wish to contribute to the development and widespread adoption of Bitcoin. I actively participate in industry meetups and conferences, seeking to expand my network and engage in meaningful discussions with professionals from various domains. I strongly believe that the democratizing potential of blockchain can positively impact societies globally. By promoting informed discussions and leading by example, I aim to drive broader acceptance and understanding of this transformative technology.
