UNIC: Among the Top 501–600 universities in the world for Social Sciences
The University of Nicosia ranks among the top universities in the world in 5 different subject areas in the THE WUR by Subject 2024
The results of the latest edition of the Times Higher Education World University Rankings (THE WUR) by Subject place the University of Nicosia (UNIC) among the Top 501–600 universities in the world for Social Sciences.
Correspondingly, UNIC ranks #3 in Cyprus, #7 in Cyprus and Greece and #132 in the EU in the discipline.
Commenting on the results of the THE WUR by Subject, the Dean of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences, Professor Klimis Mastoridis, noted:
“Once again, the latest international rankings reflect the outstanding commitment and dedication of the human resources of the University of Nicosia. The School has achieved impressive ratings in the fields of Social Sciences and Psychology, underlining the rewarding results of our colleagues’ relentless pursuit of high-level scientific research and the School’s unwavering commitment to academic excellence. It’s important to acknowledge the key role and significant contributions made by our colleagues from the UNIC School of Law to our overall standing in the Social Sciences category”.

The THE WUR is possibly the best-known and most influential university classification system in the world, drawing on five decades of expertise in the sector and millions of individual data points.
The outcomes of this year’s THE WUR by Subject represent the most recent in a series of accolades granted to UNIC by Times Higher Education. In addition to this, UNIC also ranks:
- #1 in Cyprus and Greece, alongside the University of Cyprus, the University of Crete, and the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, and among the top 501-600 universities globally (2024 THE World University Rankings);
- #1 in Cyprus alongside the University of Cyprus, among the Top 60 in the European Union and among the Top 101-150 in the world, by 2023 THE Young University Rankings (universities that are 50 years old or younger).
