University of Nicosia’s Department of Computer Science Partners with Bank of Cyprus for the 5th BoC Fintech Hackathon 5.0

The Department of Computer Science of the University of Nicosia is proud to announce its partnership with the Bank of Cyprus in organizing the 5th BoC Fintech Hackathon 5.0. This exciting event, which focuses on groundbreaking technologies in the financial sector (Fintech), will take place from October 18-20, 2024, at the IDEA Innovation Center in Nicosia.

The BoC Fintech Hackathon 5.0 invites developers, startups, professionals, students, and tech enthusiasts to come together and create innovative applications that promote youth entrepreneurship and further the development of the Fintech sector. Participants will work towards building solutions that can evolve into a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) with the potential for future development into fully functional applications.

Bank of Cyprus will provide technological support through upgraded open banking APIs (sandbox) and an SDK (Software Development Kit). This support will enable teams to incorporate advanced features such as payment processing and services utilizing secure transaction data, helping to drive innovation in the Fintech space.

Participants will also have the chance to compete for significant prizes:

  • 1st place: €5,000
  • 2nd place: €3,000
  • 3rd place: €2,000

Additionally, there will be a special €2,000 prize for the best utilization of Jinius APIs.
