University of Nicosia Introduces World’s First MSc in Metaverse & €300,000 Scholarship Programme

The University of Nicosia (UNIC) proudly announces the launch of the world’s first Master of Science (MSc) in Metaverse, a ground-breaking programme designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills required for careers in metaverse design and management. With a rich history in crypto and blockchain education since 2013, UNIC continues to lead the way in innovative educational offerings, cementing its position as a global leader in tertiary education in cutting-edge technologies.

The MSc in Metaverse is a fully accredited, interdisciplinary programme offered online, catering to the needs of creators, developers, architects, social scientists, financial professionals, policy makers, and individuals interested in shaping the future of the metaverse. By combining technical expertise with essential soft skills and competencies, such as 3D modeling and design, VR/AR development, blockchain/NFT, data skills, project management, marketing, communication, creativity, and collaboration, the programme provides a comprehensive foundation for success in this emerging field.

Professor George Giaglis, Professor at the University of Nicosia, and Executive Director of UNIC’s Institute for the Future, expressed his excitement about the launch, stating, “We are thrilled to introduce the world’s first MSc in Metaverse, showcasing our commitment to delivering forward-thinking education that addresses the demands of rapidly evolving industries. The MSc in Metaverse is structured into three semesters, spanning one calendar year, from September to August. It comprises two thematic areas: Metaverse Management and Metaverse Development, each offering specialized courses designed to provide students with a well-rounded education encompassing all facets of metaverse technologies and their application.

The MSc curriculum includes UNIC’s flagship MOOC NFTs and the Metaverse, which is delivered on-chain and inside the metaverse and is taught by UNIC faculty and Punk 6529 – a deeply influential thinker on NFTs and the metaverse and one of the largest NFT collectors in the world – along with an incredible array of guests, including Balaji Srinivasan, Fred Wilson, Chris Dixon, and Beeple. The first iteration of the course, in October 2022, attracted more than 20,000 online students.

To further support students in pursuing their educational aspirations, the University of Nicosia is pleased to announce a scholarship programme worth €300,000 annually. These scholarships will provide financial assistance to exceptional applicants, allowing them to pursue the MSc in Metaverse without financial constraints.

Enrolment for the September 2023 intake of the MSc in Metaverse programme is now open, and prospective students are invited to register here in order to receive more information about the programme as well as the scholarship application process.
