University of Nicosia maintains #1 position in Cyprus and Greece for Psychology

The University of Nicosia ranks among the top universities in the world in 5 different subject areas, in the THE WUR by Subject 2025

The results of the latest edition of the Times Higher Education World University Rankings (THE WUR) by Subject reaffirm the University of Nicosia’s (UNIC) global standing, ranking it #1 in Cyprus and Greece (joint position) for Psychology.

Correspondingly, UNIC ranks among the Top 301-400 universities in the world, and 81st in the European Union, for the discipline.

Commenting on the results of the THE WUR by Subject, the Dean of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences, Professor Klimis Mastoridis, noted:The 2025 results once again demonstrate the vibrancy of the faculty and students of the University of Nicosia. The exceptional rankings in Psychology are well-deserved recognition of our colleagues’ relentless pursuit of the highest standards of academic research. This achievement confirms our School’s unwavering focus on promoting academic excellence through a forward-looking and strategic vision. Building on this momentum, we are confident of achieving even greater milestones in the future, and our collective efforts are already paving the way.

The Times Higher Education World University Rankings (THE WUR) is possibly the most influential university classification system globally, drawing on five decades of expertise in the sector and millions of individual data points.

These subject rankings are the latest in a succession of distinctions bestowed on UNIC by Times Higher Education, which notably includes ranking the University among the Top 501-600 universities worldwide in its flagship World University Rankings for 2025.
