INVITATION TO CLINICAL ENDOCRINOLOGY SEMINAR
We cordially invite you to the Clinical Endocrinology Seminar, which will take place on Wednesday, 5 July 2023, at 07:00 p.m. in the Newton Amphitheatre at the University of Nicosia.
The Dean of the School of Veterinary Medicine, Professor Michael Herrtage, will present the topic ‘How do I diagnose and treat Canine Cushings Disease’ and Professor Manel Lopez-Bejar, the Dean of the Veterinary School at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, will present the topic ‘Detecting anxiety and stress in dogs through hormonal indicators’.
Upon the conclusion of the two lectures, the innovative programme of the School of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Nicosia will be presented, followed by a reception. This will provide the opportunity to exchange views and discuss the latest advancements in the field of veterinary science. Professor Michael Herrtage is the Dean of the University of Nicosia School of Veterinary Medicine. He also served as the Dean of the University of Cambridge Veterinary School for 14 years, and the Head of Small Animal Medicine and Diagnostic Imaging services at the Queen’s Veterinary School Hospital.
He held several prestigious positions, including President of the British Small Animal Veterinary Association, President of the European Society of Veterinary Internal Medicine, and President of the European Board of Veterinary Specialisations.
Prof Herrtage is a Diplomate of the European College of Veterinary Internal Medicine and the European College of Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging. With a particular interest in endocrine and metabolic disorders, Professor Herrtage has made significant contributions to the field of veterinary science globally, publishing over 200 articles in refereed journals.
Professor Manel Lopez-Bejar is the Dean of the Veterinary School at Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) and Member of the International Advisory Committee of the University of Nicosia School of Veterinary Medicine. He also served as the Director of the Department of Animal Health and Anatomy and as the Vice-Rector for Research at the same university. His specialization focuses on endocrinology and animal reproduction.
He obtained his PhD in Veterinary Medicine from UAB and has worked at research posts at the University of Nottingham in the United Kingdom, the INRA Institute in France, and several universities in Brazil.
Professor Lopez has made significant contributions to the field of veterinary science through his participation in numerous international research programmes, and has published over one hundred articles in refereed journals.
